Yay now time for all of my beautiful women! Wow, the world is really your oyster when it comes to dressing for photos. No matter what you wear though, you want to make sure that it’s ultimately flattering for your body type and works for the overall look you’re going for.

1. Layer
Layering can be a girl’s best friends. It gives you the power and flexibility in photos to switch up the look and feel of your outfit without actually changing your clothes. It also adds some more complexity and interest to your style. While you can experiment with patterns and textures if that’s your thing, I personally prefer more solid color prints to let your face and personality stand out!

2. Bring new elements
I always tell my clients that they’re welcome to bring props or a few extra low key clothing items. While waiting for a full-outfit change might not be the most conducive to our time together, bringing along your favorite leather or jean jacket or a scarf really breaks up the look of your photos.
3. Details
Details, details, details. Whether you like minimal accessories like a small pair of earrings, or want to sport your favorite watch and rings too, details are just beautiful little elements that add a lot to your look. While you shouldn’t go so overboard that it looks tacky, if you want my honest opinion, the details are everything.

4. Makeup
I’ll be posting a hair and makeup blog in the future, so stay tuned for that, but in my experiences, light and fresh makeup translates best in photographs. That’s why so many brides ask for something that makes them pop, but still looks natural. You want to look as much like yourself as you can, but just a little more sparkly if you will. Unless you’re super comfortable with heavy makeup, now wouldn’t be the time to try.

Obviously the thing that will make you the most beautiful is your smile and laugh. No- seriously. I’m not just being corny. You could be wearing a plastic bag and your natural smile would still make you radiant, but these tips and tricks are for a little something extra if you want to make an occasion out of your shoot.
