4 Tips for Looking Your Best

Here are my top four tips for preparing for a photoshoot that will have you both looking and feeling your best!

1. Well rested

A good night’s sleep can truly renew a soul. No amount of concealer can cover up weeks of sleepless nights, so hit the lights early the day or two before your shoot. You’ll find yourself looking and feeling more refreshed. Swapping coffee in place of sleep really won’t do you any favors when it comes to the inflammation in your face and body from lack of Zzz’s, so don’t skimp out on your TLC.

2. Stay super hydrated

I’ve always found water weight to be an odd phenomenon...because you can really only flush it out with water. So make sure you’re super hydrated before the shoot. Not only could it have you looking a little slimmer, but it’ll really help the inflammation under your eyes, making your face brighter and flush out any toxins in your body which will help you to feel lighter and more energized. Personally, whenever I know I have to look my best for a heavily photographed event, I go out and buy coconut water. There are said to be plenty of antioxidants in it and that it’s supposed to make your skin ‘glow’. And ya know what, even if it doesn’t work I still had an excuse to splurge and be a little boujee but personally I’m 100% on board with the glowy skin coconut water potion.

3. Comfy clothes

Don’t show up to the shoot in sweats. Unless it’s a PJ party but even then...no. Dress to feel your best though, so if you don’t normally wear skin tight pants or heels, then don’t wear skin tight pants and heels unless the situation absolutely demands it (which it won’t). If you’re physically uncomfortable or self conscious, that will translate visually into the photo- and I want you to love your finished product, not look back and cringe thinking about how that shirt gave you a weird bulge or those pants that you thought were too much didn’t serve your body well. Dress for your body type and in something that looks nice and will leave you comfy cozy.

4. Good headspace

If you’re in a bad mood or nervous when it comes time to shoot, your smile won’t be authentic and you’ll be left staring at images that you don’t feel looks like you. Take a few moments before you come to deep breathe and focus on looking fly as heck, which you obviously will.
